Dôn luminaire
named after the welsh mother goddess, the Dôn luminaire embodies the complex experiences and bittersweet qualities of femininity while also honoring the fleeting grace of flower blossoms and the beauty of the natural world. Rooted in vulnerability, it represents hope and space for grief related to female reproductive health and healthcare. By echoing the quiet rhythm of life and decay in nature, Dôn invites introspection on universal themes of resilience, healing, and the strength found in vulnerability.
concept.
Prompted by a recent surgery and election results, the concept formed around the assigned site & inspiration of the Denver Botanic Gardens, but could not be detatched from my own surgery recovery and fears for my health. Quickly, I knew that I wanted to create a yonic floral luminaire. After visiting the gardens, the orchids became the clear source of form and color.
